The
Puget Sound Chapter of AAZK began in
1969, just two years after the national
organization, which began in San Diego,
CA. The PS-AAZK was organized
not for profit, and the purpose to promote
and establish good relationships among
professional zoo keepers. To promote
and establish means to stimulate incentive
and create greater interest in the zoo
keeping profession through projects that
will strengthen the zoo keepers' job
knowledge. To collect and disseminate
information and materials beneficial
to zoo keepers' continuous education.
The Puget Sound Chapter
of AAZK is located within Woodland Park
Zoo, Seattle, WA., One of the world's best
zoos. Woodland Park Zoo saves animals and
their habitats through conservation leadership
and engaging experiences, inspiring people to
learn, care and act. If you are interested

PS-AAZK
is
dedicated to professional care and conservation by fostering
a professional attitude in animal keepers by encouraging
them to become active members of the national organization
of AAZK INC., which
supports the promotion and implemention of zoo keeper education
and strives to make the general public aware of valid and
deserving conservation projects and the need for the preservation
of our natural resources and animal life.
Through AAZK publications, conferences,
and chapter activites at local zoos, like PS-AAZK, provide
the means to exchange ideas and discuss new methods of professional
care, observation on animal behavior and other related information.
The Animal
Keepers' Forum, the monthly journal of AAZK,
is the principle vehicle for communication among zoo keepers
and other interested persons. |
