AAZK meeting minutes March 6th, 2009

We have the new trailer office at the old Keeper Central, it is an animal management building and Mark Meyers has helped us get it and would like to see us use it well. Exerything shouild fit except the very large photobooth cut outs, we are looking still for a good location to store them or repurpose them. Stephanie is working on shoring up the building agreement.

About three more photobooths and close together timewise, we will really be needing help! There are also possibilities of face painting - From Joanna -

" Bunny Bounce.  It is on Saturday 11 April from  9:30ish to 3ish. Even if you can come help out for a few hours, that would be great, you don't have to be here all day. Other events coming up:

Face painting training sessions - face painting is new to us and we are going to try to do this over the next 6 months at various events so we need to work out the kinks now and practice, practice, practice.

2 May (Saturday) - The grand opening for the Penguin Exhibit - face painting and possible photo booth

9 May (Saturday) - Mom and Me - photo booth and possible face painting

16 May (Saturday) - Festival for the Birds - Face painting and possible photo booth

6 June (Saturday) - Bear Affair and Microsoft Appreciation Day - Shooting for both photo booth and face painting

August - Snow Leopard Event - Face painting and possible photo booth

I am also looking into whether or not we can do face painting at the concerts this summer.

Who knows, you might have a little bit of fun…."

Please we need all available bodies for theese events, contact Joanna as soon as possible if you can help at all. The photobooths are all day events.

Peter McLane is working on getting face painting kits with easy designs and putting together a tarining session, this should be both fun and amusing. Amounts being discussed are $ 2-3 for a cheek and $5 for a full face. They would likely be a popular item and we are working on approval from management currently.

The new charter year we will have to be reconciling our list very soon for national.

We are doing all we can think of to get the word out about conference registration.

The next chapter meeting has been moved to center around a chapter photo. This will be April 3rd hopefully taken by Peter Miller, we plan to meet outside by the new snow leopard memorial, by snow leopards at 4:30. We will take the group picture and then walk over to Park Pub where we will have a no-host bar get together. All AAZK, friends, family, and recritments are welcome and ecpected at Park Pub, more details on this to come. It will be at about 5 to whenever you choose to head home. Just a fun time for all who would like to be invoved.

We are loooking into the possibility of a large potluck or bonfire for all the NW zoos who would like to socialize, maybe on the Tacoma side, more details later.

You don't have to be a Keeper to Care!!
