AAZK Notes – February 7th

    Present: Roz Sealy, Stephanie Forbes, Felicity Oram, Carla DeLoach, Celine Pardo, Kathy, Laura McComesky, Pat Owen, Carolyn Austin, Jennifer Murphy, Dorren Thompson and Steve Cremer

    • Ebay Auctions – The bids for Towan’s pieces up for bid on Ebay are currently around $400.00 each. The auctions end tomorrow at 2pm.
    • We are awaiting approval for the gallery art show.
    • We received a request from the Utah AAZK Chapter for “Chapter Challenge”. We will be sending them $350.00 and participating in the challenge. If you would like more information about the “Chapter Challenfge”, you can visit: http://www.utahaazk.org/national.htm. Basically, our donation of $350.00 will do the following:
      • Your donation of $350 will enter your chapter into a drawing to win the following (two chapters will have the opportunity to win in this category!):
      • One complimentary conference registration
      • Guest pass to the VIP book signing and meet-and-greet with keynote speaker Dr. Robert Sapolsky
      • Verbal and written recognition throughout the conference
    • Don’t forget we will need you to make cookies for the All-Staff meetings to be held February 26 th and 28 th. Amy will be sending an email out asking people to sign up.
    • Our next fundraiser event will be Bunny Bounce (besides the phot booth at thrive, which will be a set amount of $450 to AAZK)
    • The Follower a Keeper Program is doing well – Pat will be sending emails out to the participants after their tour to get feedback
    • One fundraising idea we will look into is raising the soda prices in the machines from 65 cents to 75 cents – we would get a percentage of the money

    • Budget: We received a donation from the zoo in Chester, UK for $9000.00. So far we have about $60k in our account, we are approximately $1k in the hole for our photo booth. Last year we raised close to $42k total – our PROFIT being roughly $26k-$27k. Our snack sales profit is about $1740.00.
    • We discussed “Chartering”. We have a duty obligation of $1500.00. Last year we sent $300 plus the $1500.00. We are still deciding how much will be sent this year.
    • We will look into Flamingo Flocking as another fundraising idea
