AAZK Notes – April 3, 2008

Present: Beth Carlyle-Askew, Joanna Bojarski, Peter McLane, Jennifer Murphy 

Fundraising Ideas:

·     Possibly set up a booth at a Farmer’s Market to sell shirts, cookbooks and photos (Joanna looking into it further)

·     Possibly get a booth at the Bellevue Arts Fair or the U-District Street Fair to do the same – sell our goods.

·     Maybe do a photo booth at the Flamingo opening weekend?

·     Possibly do journal, address books or pads of paper with our images behind them? Think “watermark” images, if that makes sense to you.

·     Sell mugs or t-shirts with images of an animal footprint on them. Possibly sell conference t-shirts with the footprint (“Migrate to the Zoo for the ICZ”? With footprints across front?)

Photo Booth:

·     We don’t have the exact numbers, but the Bunny Bounce photo booth brought in approximately $1700.00. We mailed out about 120 photos. Chris is currently working on a faster process, apparently there was quite a delay from taking the photos to printing them. Our total cost for the event was about $100.00

·     We are “out of the hole” with the photo equipment and up about $400.00

Candy Sales:

·     We need to increase candy sales again – Beth mentioned putting a stash at Australasia – there is apparently a lot of foot traffic around there.

·     Pete will follow up with Felicity on this point.

Membership Drive:

·     We are looking for someone to chair a membership committee

·     With the conference coming up, we really need to drive membership recruitment – if anyone you know might be interested in joining AAZK, let one of us know!

·     If you have any recruiting ideas, please let Carolyn Austin know.
