AAZK minutes from meeting on 9/6/07

    Attendees:  Carolyn, Pat, Harmony Pete, Joanna, Nichole, Heather G., Beth, Roz, Stephanie F., Felicity

    ·     Photo booth-  First one will be during Pumpkin Prowl on October 26,27,and 28.  It will be located in the African Village school house, geared towards smaller children with costumes.  Dubbed “ School of Magical Creatures”, 5 cut outs for patrons to stand with, Nathan from exhibits has drawn some sketches of what they will look like.  Exhibits is going to paint a canvas for us to put up so we have a work space behind the canvas.  Chris K. has the technical equipment, still need lighting and need to find a power source out there.  Also need volunteers to be present in character.  Still meeting with events to get the approval of all this, possibly next week.  Will have sandwich boards for graphics of event.  Need to set up a test run.

    ·     Conference DVD- rebuilding the DVD, need a copy of the old one since the computer it was on has issues.  If anyone has a copy of the first draft of the DVD please contact Pete McLane.

    ·     Website- will add conference test according to timeline of the conference preparations.

    ·     Candy sales- sales are picking up again

    ·     Cookbook- 20 days before we need it in our hand, may have to scrap adding the pictures and go with the sketches.  Need to send it to the printers on Monday.

    ·     Promotional items for Galveston conference- orders of 150 luggage tags and 150 bottle opener key chains has been placed.  Carolyn, Norah, Tom Aversa, and Joanna B. are going to the conference.

    ·     Conference- attached is a chart of the organizational set up of the conference structure. 

    ·      India keeper support- we have supported 2 keepers from India for a while now by paying for their AAZK membership, a vote was passed to support them again this year. 

    ·     Holiday Auction will be November 30 th 2007, we have the whole education center from 4 pm on November 29- 1 pm on December 1.  Solicitation letters need to be sent out in September.  Roz Sealy and Stephanie Forbes have agreed to be co-chairs this year, thanks to both of you.  Stephanie said she will work with Tammy on the solicitation letters.  We will have a stuffing party at some point.  Nichole Zuniga and Joanna B. have agreed to help also.  If you are interested in being part of organizing this very fun and dynamic event, which by the way is our biggest fund raiser, e-mail Roz Sealy.  Need a bake sale guru, maybe we can ask Amy Davis to do this again.

    ·     Chapter sent Lori Veres some flowers, she was appreciative.

    ·     If board members can add Nicole Zuniga, out newest member to the chapter, to their mailing list.
