Minutes from AAZK meeting on June 7, 2007

Attendees: Carolyn, Austin, Sue Anderson, Joanne Bajorski, Steve Cremer, Peter McLane, Beth Askew

Sue gave a short talk about the AZA Amphibian management class she went to w/ sponsorship from Heidi fund in April at Toledo Zoo.  Management and Amphibian declines worldwide.

Chris researching software, etc, has camera and maybe a computer.  Invest in printer software cardstock.  Exhibit guys want to help with booth also. 

AAZK Insight plugged our website, we were on top.  National AAZK and PSAAZK has links to Insight.

Plant Sale- we made $1100.00, Candy sale so far $700.00, just opened candy station #10 in the bungalow.

Cookbook-need recipes!!!!!!!  Get photos from Dennis Dow for the gift shop and the cookbook.  Pete will take some to his shop get mats.

Tuesday went well for Conference open call, Carolyn getting e-mails and more are coming to Orang office to sign up.

Summer outings-signup if you want to go on one.

National Zookeeper week- any ideas?  July 15-21

68 keepers, food appreciation awards and shirts, button, incorporate awareness at end of regular scheduled keeper talks.  Zoo store discount for keepers only.  Rambling keepers to talk to visitors w/ AAZK pamphlets.  We voted to go in ½ with Animal Management to get t-shirts for keepers (intermittent, regular and leads).  Media release?  Table or specific place for keeper talk.  Coffee/ donuts delivered at rainforest café, box lunch?  See if we can get t-shirts in timeline.

Bruce Upchurch- designs for moving freezers into elephant basement so we can have more AAZK stuff stored in there.  We need to build and install shelves and need to purchase supplies to do this.  $$ comes out of general fund.  Will have a work party to work on shelves, sort through and get rid of stuff we don’t need.
