NOTES FROM AAZK MEETING 1/4/2007

    • In forum Hoagle Zoo made a “ZOO BUM” calendar, possible fundraiser for us… Very cute :o)
    • Book Sale – March 23 rd if rooms are available w/ another bake sale as well
    • Possible May fund raiser: “rummage”, art, and plant sale…
    • BFR in August this year, Norah will work on a date
    • AAZK things had to be moved from Keeper Central to Elephant barn by last Friday at 4pm. Thank you Steve Cremer!
    • Does anybody know where conference DVD is at, last copy, Chris K needs!!
    • Feb 6 th, Robin from Leather Elves (an enrichment company) wants to come and give a workshop, cost is $400; Steph F will work on this.
    • Annual dues are to be made to AAZK national. $300 for the “re-charter” fee and $1,500 was unanimously voted upon for their new annual “Duty Obligation” fee to help them get out of debt. This is a “gold status” donation from us to them.
    • BUDGET COMMITTEE: $30,468.71 in our account at year-end. 20% will go into an account for operating costs and 80% will go into a conference account to start our conference nest egg.
    • Our chapter wants a credit card to hold reservations and such as well as to earn points to go toward whatever we could use. Balance to be paid off 100% monthly. Currently there are three debit cards for our accounts.
    • Carolyn and Maureen will be added to the accounts.
    • All new accounts and banking changes will be finished by the end of the month.
    • The “Heidi Fund” will continue to stand on its own and be used as it was set up to do, not being touched for the conference.
    • WE NEED A VOLUNTEER TO CHAIR THE BOOK SALE IN MARCH!!!
    • Will be moving all flyers and forms of AAZK’s to the Y drive as soon as possible for easier access.
    • Peter McLane has updated our website!!!! Thank You Pete!!! He will be linking the Insight issues and the monthly chapter meeting notes to this so it gets more use. Good Idea.
    • Pete wants more keeper photos doing real keeper duties and animal photos of them getting enrichment and training. No photos of them looking “wild” please.
    • Discussed possibility of selling remainder of T shirts in the forum and on the website to earn a little more money.
    • We need ideas for conference logos and designs for 2009, start thinking now :o)
