November 2006 AAZK meeting agenda… November 14

Updates and Info …

• Carolyn needs election responses by December 1, send your votes by email for 2007 officers
• Conference 2009: contract is finished!!
• The ICZ Steering committee will be coming in March 2007 to check out the zoo, the hotel, and the city. Approximately 15 people will be coming from all over the world.
• We will have a meeting in January to discuss/brainstorm for their visit
• Because of this visit, we’re hoping the DVD will be completed by the time they come, so we can hand it to them.
• The website needs updating, and Pete needs help!
• Holiday Auction 2006:
• We need more items (auction and bake sale)! We are at about 115 items now, last year we were above 200 items at this time…Tammy has sent out the solicitation forms, time to hit the streets!
• Discussed possibly increasing the value of the Animal Experiences
• Need to reserve easels around the zoo for art items at the auction
• Meeting next week to finalize the auction: Tuesday, November 21, during lunch at AHD
• Carolyn and Norah are soon to have a meeting with Bruce about the budget for the conference
• Start brainstorming fundraisers (every little bit counts)
• Look at what other zoos do successfully
• Possibly look at Pre-tax deduction donations toward AAZK
• Photo booths at different events (like pumpkin prowl)
• “follow the keeper”
• Candy bar sales
• CD’s for the money in savings
• We have two other chapters that are willing to donate for the conference: Point Defiance and San Diego
