Presently, is working as a Penguin and puffin keeper at the St. Louis Zoological Park . Rick has a BSA from the University of Missouri ’s School of Fisheries and Wildlife Biology. Rick has been a zookeeper working with seabirds since 1986. In addition to working with penguins and puffins has also worked with fish, reptiles, small mammals, and many other bird species. In 1994, 2005, 2006, and 2008 he worked as a volunteer for Audubon’s Project Puffin, on Outer Green and Seal Island , Maine . In 2007 Rick participated in monitoring guano harvest and data collecting for the Center for Conservation of the Humboldt Penguin in Punta San Juan, Mercona , Peru . Rick has been a member of American Association of Zookeepers since 1986 and served in many chapter officer positions in Missouri and Florida . Presently, he serves on the AAZK Information (Marketing) Committee. Rick has presented papers at several AAZK conferences and published many articles on aquatic animal husbandry. His hobbies include: aquarium keeping, bird watching, ghost hunting, fishing, and fossil hunting.
