Becky Richendollar has been a keeper at the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro , North Carolina for six years. For the first five years, she worked in the African Pavilion exhibit. In the Pavilion, Becky worked with a variety of primates, birds, small mammals, and reptiles including an African Spurred Tortoise named Bella. Becky was especially involved with the zoo’s large meerkat population. In 2009, Becky transferred to the Watani Grasslands Exhibit. This 38-acre exhibit houses seven southern white rhinos as well as multiple species of African antelope.

Becky is the Associate Editor for the AAZK’s publication, Animal Keepers’ Forum. She is also a regular contributor to the Conservation/Legislative Issues column. Becky is also active on the local level in her role as the treasurer of her AAZK chapter. Becky lives in North Carolina with her partner, two dogs, and a cat
