Nine species of anurans belonging to four families and six genera were recorded in the three year study at the Sangli District (16 º 45’N lat and 73 º 42’E long). Major contribution of the species list was from the family Ranidae with four species, followed by Bufonidae (2), Microhylidae (2) and Rachoforidae (1). Among the anurans recorded in this study about 44 percent are burrowing, 22 percent aquatic, and 11 percent of semi-aquatic, terrestrial and arboreal mode of habitat respectively. The results reveal that the checklist of anuran species studied, differed in their habitation, although they experience similar climate conditions suggesting that the local factors do play a role in determining habitat of anuran species.
