Good, Shane - President, AAZK & ICZ Animal Keeper, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Ohio , USA Shane Good has been an animal keeper for 17 years at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Most of that time has been as a relief keeper, requiring Shane to work with over 600 species of animals. He currently works in CMZ’s Australian Adventure, a 9-acre mixed species exhibit. He currently serves as President of the International Congress of Zookeepers (ICZ), a non-profit association incorporated in Ohio that represents 9 professional keeper associations and 6000 members from over 30 countries. Shane is also President of the American Association of Zookeepers (AAZK) and currently serves as the oversight of AAZK’s Bowling for Rhinos and International Outreach Committee. Shane holds an Associate Degree in Fish and Wildlife Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. He is also completing his Masters of Science Degree in Biology, having researched the effects of immunocontraception on an urban population of white-tailed deer. Shane’s most recent project involves coordinating the partnership between the American Association of Zookeepers and Polar Bears International for the 2009 Zookeeper Leadership Camp in Churchill , Manitoba , Canada . Zookeeper Leadership Camp will bring zookeepers from across North America into the arctic for in situ training in conservation, education, and leadership skills and send them back to their communities as ambassadors for polar bear conservation and climate change awareness.
